We have been integrating our sensing systems into customer applications for 20 years. We are now 70 people strong organisation supplying the 3 leading offshore wind OEMs, and we’re developing sensing solutions to challenges in hydrogen, oil & gas, motorsport, aerospace and composite structures industries.
Insensys is a fast growing British success story in fibre optic sensing technologies. We were founded 20 years ago as a manufacturer of specialist carbon fibre super yacht masts, we transitioned in 2008 to focus on our core business: Fibre optic sensing technology for offshore wind turbine control. Since then we have diversified into many niche markets using our innovative sensing solutions. Our headquarters are in Fareham, UK and we currently employee over 70 dedicated staff.
We started to work in Wind Energy 15 years ago, supplying early and current market leaders such as Gamesa (now part of Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy), LM Glasfiber (now LM Windpower, part of GE Renewables), and Vestas.
We currently supply the top 3 global OEMs as they ramp up their production lines, and we are actively engaged with their Onshore partners around new applications for large rotor onshore turbines.
Fibre Optic Sensing solutions into wider markets
Around 2008 we began focussing on developing our core Fibre Optic Sensing technology for Offshore Wind turbine control applications such as Individual Pitch Control (IPC), and since then we have supplied many other niche markets with concept systems for application development and we’re excited about where some of these opportunities are progressing, and it is in these exciting markets where we plan to take the next chapter in the Insensys story.
