Insensys (Intelligent Sensing Systems) is a privately owned global leading supplier of fibre optic measurement systems. We supply strain measurement systems to many leading Wind Turbine manufacturers, as well as customising core technology for applications in Oil & Gas, Aerospace, Marine and other markets. Insensys isbased in Fareham, employing approximately 50 people. We design and manufacture on site, and deliver systems to our customers in Europe, Asia and the US. Our company has grown rapidly in the past 18 months and continues to expand in all areas. Full time Permanent contract, 40 hour a week

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the day to day running of the Engineering team
  • Collating project data, reviewing and probe findings to ensure projects are running according to plan
  • Analyse data and ensure controls are put in place to review spend and resource planning
  • Drive communication and high performance
  • Present to the Board Engineering statistics and proposals on a regular basis
  • Understand the dynamics of a highly sophisticated R&D team
  • Ensuring the engineering team have goals and objectives, are motivated, managed, supported, appraised and developed alongside HR best practices
  • Ensuring Health and Safety is adhered to at all times
  • Overseeing the recruitment, induction and training of new staff
  • Discover and develop new contracting and funding opportunities
  • Develop strong working relationship with internal and external partners
  • Lead department meetings with regular communication and coaching sessions
  • Drive vision and strategy amongst team members. Lead by example – be a positive role model
  • Enable success and empowerment of employees by removal of barriers, driving decision making down through the team where appropriate
  • Timely and effective resolutions of any employee relations or performance issues.
  • Managing attendance of team members and completion of Return to Work interviews. Including planning and managing of holiday for team members to meet production demands.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Degree or higher in Physics, Chemistry or Science biased subject
  • Strong understanding in engineering or manufacturing
  • Highly computer literate
  • Detailed focused

  • Strong communication skills at all levels.

Actively intervene in any unsafe act or condition that may be identified. Co-operate with the Management Team so far as is necessary to ensure that the requirements defined by the Integrated QHSE Management System are performed or complied with. Ensuring that any PPE issued or made available for use is used, maintained correctly and any loss or damage is minimised. Immediately reporting any unsafe or potentially unsafe acts or conditions to your Supervisor or any member of the Management Team. Actively reporting any errors, omissions or potential improvements identified in the Health and Safety Management System and the associated controls or processes. Comply with all Client QHSE controls, processes and other requirements on Client work sites.
