Insensys (Intelligent Sensing Systems) is a privately owned global leading supplier of fibre optic measurement systems. We supply strain measurement systems to many leading Wind Turbine manufacturers, as well as customising core technology for applications in Oil & Gas, Aerospace, Marine and other markets. Insensys is based in Fareham, employing approximately 50 people. We design and manufacture on site, and deliver systems to our customers in Europe, Asia and the US. Summary of Role:

A Manufacturing Process Engineering role to define and support how our products will be manufactured and assembled. Responsible for implementation of production processes and procedures, new product introduction and manufacturing process improvements aimed at reducing waste, improving quality and safety, and reducing operating costs. Responsible for ensuring all manufacturing data is correct through liaison with the engineering and sales teams prior to use.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify manufacturing requirements for new products
  • Design new systems and processes, facilities & methods to ensure the cost-effective integration of new products and the improvement of existing ones
  • Responsible for maintenance of engineering data (Parts Management, BoMs, routings, specifications, test requirements etc.)
  • Responsible for interface with the engineering and sales teams to ensure all product and test system data is correct ahead of manufacture
  • Responsible for development and maintenance of shop floor software systems
  • Assist with shop floor layout and production process designs
  • Design fixtures and tooling for assembly tasks
  • Generate production documentation such as assembly instructions
  • Provide training to technicians and other staff as necessary
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analysing, planning and optimising work-flow, space requirements and equipment layout
  • Carry out PFMEAs (Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis), compile process documentation and implement improvements eg. Poka Yoke where possible to prevent errors
  • Investigate production and process issues providing technical support and training
 

Qualifications and experience:

  • Relevant manufacturing/engineering degree
  • Ability to independently determine best approach to assigned tasks and manage workload
  • Understanding manufacturing processes, engineering, scientific and other technical information
  • Strong problem-solving skills and logical approach, excellent attention to detail
  • Understanding and implementing manufacturing best practice, for example lean manufacturing, Poka Yoke, PFMEA processes
  • Understanding of Health and Safety practices
  • 2D, 3D CAD experience
  • Ability to train teams at all levels
  • Experience of SQL databases
  • Experience of LabVIEW (ideal)/other programming languages
